For quilting, you get advanced features like the knee operated presser foot, extra large slide on sew-table and you can operate the machine with or without the foot pedal for more comfort on those 'long haul' sewing projects. 1/4" patchwork foot, even feed (walking foot) and free-motion foot come as standard

Easy touch button stitch selecting.

188 practical, utility, decorative and quilt stitches. 3 types of alphabet, 10 styles of 1-Step Auto Sized buttonhole includes: standard, round and keyhole.
It's so easy; each stitch/pattern has its own number - you just enter the number for your chosen stitch or pattern and away you go!
Correct stitch length and width are automatically selected for you. These settings are easily changed to your own preferences, if required.
The well lit screen details your chosen stitch. This can then be customized, grouped with other patterns (as in a decorative border) and even saved into memory if required.
It will even tell you which presser foot to use for the particular stitch or pattern that you are sewing.

Just where you need it!

Press the start/stop key if you don't want to use the foot pedal. Pre-select a speed range that you're comfortable with. Make the machine stop with the needle in the up position (to withdraw your work) or have it stopping down to turn you fabric easily. Use the reverse button to fasten off seams or use the tie off on the spot facility. There all here right at your fingertips!

Top-load Jam-proof bobbin

Bobbin is easily accessed on the bed of the machine and you can keep a check on its status via the see-through cover plate.

Sleeve arm for those little but rather awkward tasks
The sewing bed slides away to access the sleeve-arm (free-arm) This lets you sew around trouser bottoms, sleeves or cuffes.

Knee operated presser foot lift.
Raises the presser foot without taking your hands off your work. It's like having an extra hand - crucial for quilting and other projects with long or repetitive seams.
Simply pull the lifter bar out and away from the machine if not needed. Presser foot can still be raised/lowered by way of the foot lever just like regular machines and it will go extra high for thick multiple layers

1-Step Auto Sized Buttonholes
made easy with Janome's 1-Step system. They are automatically measured to the button size used on the garment. Buttonholes are repeated all the way down the garment until you decide to change size. Superb buttonholes... quick, easy, and in one go!
And you've got 10 different types to choose from including: keyhole, rounded, stretch, outline and regular.

Generous extension table comes as standard. Just what's needed for those big, heavyweight projects. Easy to attach - slide on / slide off

Pull down the threader lever, place thread into threader hook and your needle will be threaded.

Gives better performance on fabrics ranging from the most difficult synthetic jerseys, slippery satins, right up to multiple layers of heavy denim or vinyl and leather
In addition the powerful DC motor with its speed limiter gives superb speed control from dead slow up to 820 stitches per minute. You also get full needle power at slow speed, allowing you to sew slowly over thick layers or seams. 4900QC also has variable foot pressure to assist with fabric thickness
